On June 29,2006, Croda, a British Imperial Chemical Industries, agreed to buy its UNIQEMA subsidiary from ICI. UNIQEMA had already acquired the Icematic range of refrigerated oil business from Castrol, a subsidiary of BP. On November 1,2007, Lubrizol (NYSE: LZ) officially announced that it had completed its acquisition of the Croda refrigeration and lubricants business, the business has had revenues of about $84m in the past 12 months. The acquisition includes Croda’s polyol ester and alkyl benzene refrigeration lubricant technology, patents and associated intellectual property, and covers Emkarate and Icematic brands and customers. The deal does not include production facilities. Transactions are handled by the subsidiary CPI Company.
